What Is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
Although the cause is unknown, the syndrome may stem from viral infections, immune impairment, abnormal blood pressure, hormonal imbalance or even elongated stress. Chronic fatigue syndrome cannot be tested but is characterized by permanent fatigue, memory loss, muscular discomfort, inexplicable headaches, sore throat, enlarged lymph nodes and active joint pain without swelling.
While possible at any age, the syndrome is most common in one’s 40s and 50s. Chronic fatigue syndrome may complicate one’s daily routine and eventually cause social isolation.
